Update!
Bonjour, I want to write a blog again and in this blog I want to make clear how much respect I have for the people living here, taking me into their home. Life is great here and I really cannot complain. Flow and Lititia; the owners with their children and Gael, Micha and Flo. I'm so happy that I can be here and spend time with these amazing people. I'm sleeping in the cameon of Gael, in which he lived for several years, driving around. During the day and in the evenings I work in a pizzeria-restaurant, La Novita.
Yesterday was a great day what started in minor. Private stuff. Anyway, the only thing I want is be a great friend for everybody, here and in Holland. I want to be a heartwarming person, giving love and being loved, all the time. And I know that I could be and I just want to come closer to the people I love, exchanging smiles and make two winners, only winners.
Two days ago I met Tommy, Kevin and Lili at work. Tommy lives in Loray too and he is 25 years old, has his own house, a wife and a kid. He worked in the kitchen since he was fifteen, starting off as a patisser. Tommy is chef the patisserie, also in el Novita, the restaurant where I work. He teaches me a lot about how to prepare desserts. We made a big pie the first day we worked together and he picks me up at home and brings me back again with his car often. Tommy is such a friendly guy. Is it too soon to say he's a friend of mine?
Kevin is the sous chef. He has an amazing haircut, bald on both sides and a big mohawk in the middle with a beard on his chin only. He has two piercings in his lip and one between his eyes, just beneath his third eye. He is such a friendly guy with a great positive attitude. I love seeing him running around the kitchen, sweating and preparing the plates with passion. He has lived in the south of France, but because lack of work, he moved to Orchamps-Vennes. Kevin tells me a lot of smart kitchen skills. Today he teached me a French dish with old bread what was not nice for eating anymore. He dipped it in egg yolk with milk and sugar, and after in flour and baked it in a pan. After that you can put any kind of sugary food on it and it will taste great. 'It's a typical French dish.' he told me. Kevin is the only one speaking English and we are teaching each other a lot of new words.
Lili is one of the waitresses with a great great energy. She is like a steamroller, crazy as a bunch of carrots, running around with big eyes and smiling around with big teeth. She is one of a kind, a motor. She jumpes around the kitchen, laughing like a maniak, making high sounds. She's amazing and we are good together and she is loved by everybody in the restaurant.
The atmosphere is amazing in the restaurant, also with Thomas as the boss. He gives smiles and makes pizza's in the front, where everybody can see him. The oven is burning on wood and the pizza's are great! In the pauzes we eat a lot of pizza's and after work we all drink beer together and sit in the lounge on the big benches. At the end of the evenings, my feet hurt most of the time and I'm really tired, but than it's just starting. Everybody is talking and talking and going and smoking and drinking and joking. It's a great team I'm working in and I feel blessed with these people.
I found this restaurant with the help of Flow. He knew that this restaurant was searching for a helper in the kitchen and he brought me there and waited on the parking spot. I walked in and after five minutes I had the job, how simply can it be. Thank you a lot Flow. Tonight I'm going to prepare a great salad for everybody with walnuts, avocado and a lot of more things I bought in the store today.
I want to work myself up to a higher level in the kitchen so the chef only have to ask me and I can do it. For that I need to learn more French to understand what the waitresses say. But for now I just need to keep my mind set and focus on cutting the vegetables and cleaning the kitchen. And I really do want to focus on what happens around me and understand what's been said so I can make work easier for the other cooks. After that I hope to get more work in preparing and making dishes.
For now I'm going to learn some French, have a shower and make a salad in the evening. It's six o'clock and it's dark outside. In the evening I'm just going to relax with my friends, watch some tv, drink a beer, share a chocolatebar. Thank you for reading my blog! I miss you in the Netherlands and sometimes I wish I could be at home. Home...
